Accepted
- Tree limbs and shrubbery (pieces up to 8 inches in diameter and 10 feet long)
- Bagged grass clippings and leaves (bags properly tied)
- Household furniture, carpet, mattresses, toilets, bicycles and toys
- Stoves, washers, dryers and water heaters
Not accepted

- Construction or demolition debris (building materials, brick, rock, asphalt, gravel, concrete, glass panes, glass doors, mirrors, items with protruding nails)
- Automobile parts or tires
- Dirt, soil or sod
- Electronics such as computers, TVs, stereos and microwaves
- Roofing materials or shingles
- Paints or chemicals
- Appliances containing coolant, gas or other chemicals (air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, lawnmowers)
Where to put it
- Just behind the curb line in front of your home.
- Not on the side of your home, in an alley, or on property across from or next to your home.
- Not in the street or on the sidewalk, or anywhere it interferes with traffic, pedestrians or collection.
- Not within 5 feet of a roll cart, mailbox, fence or wall, water meter, telephone box, parked cars, fire hydrant, utility or light pole, or traffic sign.
- Not under low-hanging tree limbs or power lines — crews use a grapple arm and won't collect what they can't reasonably reach.
The once-a-year 20 cubic yard exception
You can request an oversize collection of up to 20 cubic yards once per calendar year, online, through the Dallas 311 app, or by calling 3-1-1. Submit it the week before your brush/bulk collection week — up until Sunday 11:59 p.m. before your scheduled collection week. The request can't be canceled once submitted.
Orange tag? Overage fee?
An Orange Tag on your pile means a collection violation was found and needs to be corrected before the City will service it.
Set-outs over the limit, or containing prohibited items, will generally be collected and automatically billed at $60 per 5 cubic yards (in 5 cubic yard increments). Early, oversize and non-compliant set-outs can also get citations.
